A community of pilots pursing the skill, beauty, and joy of motorless flight.
The Central Pennsylvania Soaring Association (CPSA) is a nonprofit glider flying club. We're based out of the spacious and beautiful Mid-State Airport (KPSB), located next to Black Moshannon State Park.Â
Our fleet includes a tow plane and multiple gliders. We fly throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Our experienced pilots fly recreationally, several of our member fly in competitions, and we provide instruction for pilots who are still working toward earning their certificate.
Our members come from a broad range of backgrounds and abilities. This region has a long history of high-performance soaring, centered around the Ridge Soaring Gliderport. Some of our most skilled and experienced pilots come from that era. Our members include business professionals, university students, professors, and commercial pilots. Some of our members have many thousands of hours of experience, and some are in the process of learning to fly.
What we share in common is a love of flying, in particular the challenge and beauty of flying motorless aircraft such as gliders and sailplanes. We welcome visitors and are always looking to grow our membership, whether it's experienced glider pilots, powered airpline pilots interested in learning to fly gliders, or those who are interested in their very first flight.
